On November 26, the powerful Cyclone Senyar made landfall on Sumatera Island, in Indonesia, with strong winds, heavy rains and a destructive storm surge. Landslides and flash floods cut off access to towns and cities in Aceh, North Sumatera and West Sumatera. Local sources report that over 880,000 people were displaced, more than 800 killed and thousands injured. Damage is severe: 199 health facilities were damaged or destroyed.
